  1. Preventative medicine is definitely very important for Americas future. The only true way to save lives and money is not by curing diseases, but by preventing them from occurring. I think that you brought up many good points, specially the fact that disease screening is not about saving money but about saving lives. Its important for patients to become familiar with their own bodies, and understand the diseases which they may be susceptible for. By looking at our own families and genetically inherited traits, patients should be able to make more health conscious decisions. For example if a mother or father has developed diabetes, it is important for the child to understand the diet they should avoid. Prevention is all about understanding, and I believe the more we prevent the more money we will save.
